  •  Yes, there is a difference, 2nd gen has removable battery pack.
  • Yes, this does recharge and yes, you can connect this to your existing doorbell wires.
  • This has a battery built inside, so you remove the whole ring doorbell to recharge it.
  • If you connected this to your doorbell wires, then no need to do that because they will be constantly charged up, since it is connected to the power in your home.
  • The other ring model, second generation, has a removable battery pack. So, the ring doorbell doesn’t have to be removed completely, only the battery pack. Charge it up and pop it back in. It makes it easier, instead of having to remove the whole thing like this model.
